Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, performs duties necessary for the effective daily operation of all department services and programs, including the compounding, dispensing, charging, and delivery of medications to the patients. Accurately responds to medication dispensing requests, prepares medications for pharmacist final review / check, delivers checked medications, and returns unused or expired medications to appropriate pharmacy areas. Prepares sterile products such as IV solutions, piggyback containers, irrigations, TPNs, prefilled syringes, reconstituting of medications under aseptic conditions. Keeps work area and equipment clean and neat. Performs various clerical and specialized duties. Helps in the training of pharmacy technician I and newly hired pharmacy technicians. Accurately refills and conducts inventory of medication dispensing systems and accurately loads and unloads medications as directed. Assists in recording and distribution of large and small volume IV solutions. Performs all necessary tasks related to front reception area. Serves the needs of neonatal, pediatric, adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients. Provides distributive pharmacy services and technical support for the pharmacist, performing activities or tasks in specialty pharmacy services. Assists pharmacists in promoting an organized and functional pharmacy service, prepares medications for dispensing, and maintains records. Prevents improper drug, dose, dosage form selection, expiration dating, and barcode scanning issues when checking productsUnderstands how to handle process and appropriately dispose of all waste materials, including all levels of hazardous waste, within the department. QualificationsThe expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed :Required qualification :High School Grad or Equiv + PHRMTECH-R - Registered Pharmacy Technician. + OR Current, valid Pharmacist Intern license.Preferred qualification :Associate + 1 contemporary hospital pharmacy, retail or ambulatory + Sterile Compounding Certification + Current certification from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or from the Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ICPT) This facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.
