Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position in a high acuity acute care setting, requiring an active IL RN license and ICU skills.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Work in an 8-bed high acuity ICU within an acute care hospital
  • Nurse to patient ratios are 1 : 2-3
  • Patient population includes respiratory failure, post-surgical, wound care, IV antibiotics, post CVA, post trauma, and cardiac patients
  • Responsible for PEG tube care, CVC / PICC / Midline usage and care, tracheostomy care, sedated and ventilated patients
  • Must titrate a variety of ICU drips including Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, Versed, Lasix, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levophed, Dopamine, Cardizem
  • Utilizes Epic EMR; Epic experience not required but preferred
  • All 8 ICU beds are equipped with hard-wired Philips telemetry, monitored centrally by a telemetry tech
  • 12-hour night shifts (7pm–7 : 30am), every other weekend, and holiday rotation required
  • ICU RNs may float to the Medical-Surgical unit as needed
  • No on-call requirement currently but subject to change
  • Primary nursing care model with no nurse aides or patient care techs on the unit
  • House supervisor available 24 / 7; hospitalist or intensivist available in-house during days and telehealth MD coverage after hours
  • Respiratory therapist in-house 24 / 7 for ventilator and respiratory equipment management
  • Two shifts of unit-specific orientation with a preceptor, plus additional classroom orientation per policy
  • Scrubs required; any color is acceptable, only facility-approved t-shirts allowed
  • Holiday coverage is required as part of the scheduling rotation
  • Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles will receive a local rate
  • COVID vaccination is not required

  • Active IL RN license required at the time of consideration
  • Current BLS and ACLS (AHA) certifications required; copies of active certifications must be provided
  • Minimum 1 year of recent ICU experience required
  • Competency in PEG tube care, CVC / PICC / Midline management, tracheostomy, ventilated patient care, and titration of critical drips
  • Experience with Epic EMR preferred
  • Must pass a comprehensive drug screen
  • References from a supervisor within the last 12 months and a peer or supervisor within the last 3 years must be provided
  • Nursys verification required for RN submissions
