The Varsity Tutors Live Learning Platform has thousands of students looking for online Expository Writing tutors nationally. As a tutor on the Varsity Tutors Platform, you’ll have the flexibility to set your own schedule, earn competitive rates, and make a real impact on students’ learning journeys—from the comfort of your home.

Responsibilities

Provide 1-on-1 online tutoring and personalized instruction to individual students.
Accept on-demand tutoring requests and match sessions to student needs.
Use the Live Learning Platform to conduct sessions remotely without commuting.
Invoice for tutoring sessions and manage payments (via Varsity Tutors).

What We Look For In a Tutor

Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.

Expertise in Expository Writing and the ability to explain concepts clearly.

Ability to personalize lessons and adapt to different learning styles.

Priority given to those with tutoring or teaching experience and graduate-level education.

Compensation and Perks

Base contract rates start at $18 / hour and can increase for specialized subjects; pay can reach up to $40 / hour for the same student over time.

Get paid up to twice per week for tutoring sessions and invoicing.

Set your own hours and tutor as much as you’d like.

AI-powered Tutor Copilot provides real-time instructional support and resources to save prep time.

We handle logistics—you invoice for sessions and we process payments.
