Job Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position with solid neuro experience and required proficiency in drips and post-cardiac procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a dynamic Mixed Acuity Progressive Care Unit (PCU) that includes medical, oncology, and stroke patients
  • Patient assignments include med-surg with a 1 : 5-6 ratio and PCU patients with a 1 : 3-4 ratio
  • Care will include post-heart cath, post-pacemaker, unstable stroke, and BiPap cases
  • Drips managed include Cardizem, Amiodarone, Lasix, and Insulin
  • Uses Cerner for electronic charting; Cerner proficiency required
  • Shift options include 3x12 or 4x12 hour nights (18 : 00 – 06 : 30)
  • Floating to other units or affiliate hospitals is required
  • Responsibilities include managing drips and caring for post-cardiac and unstable stroke patients
  • The unit serves patients with oncology, cardiac, gastrointestinal, and pulmonary needs
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Team environment is supportive with opportunities to gain experience in diverse specialties
  • Red top and black bottoms required for scrub attire
  • Parking is free for staff
  • Must work at least 2 out of 3 major holidays; no RTO approved during 11 / 23 – 11 / 29
  • Requested days off (RTO) are auto-approved for 5 days or less outside of holidays
  • Former permanent or PRN employees must have a 12-month break before applying as travelers

    • Requirements

  • Active IN or compact RN license required and must be in hand before start
  • ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA or RQI accepted)
  • Minimum of 18 months recent RN experience in MS / Tele or PCU required
  • Solid neuro experience required
  • Experience handling cardiac and neuro drips, and post-cardiac procedures is required
  • Graduation from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • Cerner charting experience required
  • References from two supervisors required
  • Social Security Number and date of birth required for consideration
  • No local candidates for PCU, MS / Tele, ICU, or ER positions
