American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Med / Surg position in an acute care setting with a focus on post-surgical patient care and floating requirements.

Responsibilities
\n
Work in a 30-bed Med / Surg unit within an acute care hospitalPatient population includes post-surgical patients such as total joint replacement, spinal and abdominal surgery, urology procedures, bariatrics, and medical overflowNurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 4-5 during days and 1 : 5-6 at nightNight shifts with 12-hour schedule; every other weekend requiredRequired to float to medical and telemetry units as neededUnit uses the Epic EMR systemOccasional management of heparin drips, PCA pumps, and TPNRemote telemetry packs are in use, with monitor techs responsible for interpretationRN is responsible for managing post-surgical and medical overflow patients utilizing evidence-based practicesCharge nurse present on all shifts, may occasionally take a low acuity assignment during nightsSupport staff includes patient care techs on the unitBedside shift report is expected practiceAny color scrubs are permittedHoliday coverage may be required as neededFirst time travelers are welcome to applyMaximum of 7 days RTO allowed per 13-week contract; additional time off will not be approved\n \n
Requirements

Active RN license (state or Compact) required at time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum of 2 years recent RN experience requiredCurrent BLS certification requiredPreferred surgical, post-operative, and early ambulation experienceEpic charting experience preferredCandidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facilityCandidates may not have been employed (full time, part time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past yearSubmission must include a copy of driver's licenseSupervisor reference from within the last 12 months and peer or supervisor reference from the last 3 years required\n
