Responsibilities Work in a Med / Surg Telemetry unit within a short-term acute care, teaching hospital Unit includes 16 patient rooms with a 1 : 5 nurse-to-patient ratio Float required to units of equivalent or lower acuity Day (6 : 30–19 : 00) and night (18 : 30–7 : 00) 12-hour shifts available, 3 shifts per week Requires working every other weekend, for a total of 6 weekend shifts Charting is done in Cerner; medication management uses Pyxis system Must be willing to work the Thanksgiving holiday All employees must have a flu vaccine Modules and training completed pre-start and during orientation, up to 12 hours average Return staff must be gone a minimum of 1 year before returning as a traveler No more than 8 days off approved during contract; more than 3 absences in 13 weeks result in immediate termination Local candidates within 60 miles are accepted, but at a different rate Parking is available but at a cost Manager interview may or may not occur Requirements Active DC RN license required; pending license accepted with proof, but must be active prior to start Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required Minimum of 2 years RN experience required Must have completed at least 1 prior travel nursing assignment Proficiency in Med / Surg, Telemetry, Cardiac Tele, dysrhythmia interpretation, feeding tube care, PICC and peripheral line IV therapy, and IV starts required Charge nurse experience preferred Two supervisor references required Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-618602.
