Intake Assistant
The Alaska State Ombudsman is recruiting for an Intake Assistant to join our team in Anchorage. We help people resolve their complaints about state agencies. The Intake Team plays a crucial role, serving as the first point of contact with the public. You will communicate with people from various backgrounds through phone calls, emails, and letters. You will collect information about a wide variety of complaints, and present these to investigators. You will think creatively to connect people with the best resources to help find solutions. You will manage a dynamic workload in a public service-oriented environment.

The Intake Assistant is primarily responsible for communicating with the public, collecting information about their problems, and determining if the issues presented are jurisdictional for this office's review. You will ask thoughtful questions, perform initial research, follow up with the complainants as needed, and write summaries of the complaints for investigators to review. If complaints are determined to be non-jurisdictional, premature, or better suited to be handled by another agency, you will share referrals to other services with the complainant.
