Job Description :
Objective : The Medical Assistant supports physicians, Nurse Practitioners, RNs, and staff in coordinating the needs of patients.
Responsibilities / Essential Functions :
- Ensure patient satisfaction by providing excellent patients services. Addresses patients with a compassionate, friendly and caring attitude.
- Rooms patients, accurately collect and records patients' vital statistics, allergies, medications and concerns.
- Prepares exam rooms, stocks and maintains supplies and equipment, keeping the rooms neat and clean.
- Effectively assists with prescriptions and authorizing drug refill requests.
- Triage messages, routes and relays information to staff, providers, and patients in a timely manner.
- Maintains detailed notes in patients' electronic records.
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality for patients in accordance to HIPAA standards.
- Effectively maintains a professional demeanor with patients, staff, and physicians at all times.
- Back up infusion room medical assistant duties.
- Effectively performs other duties as assigned
Pay range for this position is $21.00-$24.00 per hour.
Experience, Qualifications, Education
High School Diploma or equivalent requiredMedical Assistant Certificate from an accredited education institutionCurrent CPR certification requiredCalifornia Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) licenseFour years of work experience in venipunctureMust comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and office policies and protocols.Knowledge of computer / telephony support, preferably in a health care environmentStrong customer service background, preferably in health care environmentExcellent verbal communication skillsCompetence with computer processing functions and other standard office equipmentAbility to manage and prioritize multiple tasksAbility to calmly and professionally resolve customer issues with diplomacy and tactAbility to work independently with minimal supervisionStrong organizational skillsRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
