Job description

Position Overview

Quakers Safety & Security Specialist works cooperatively with all departments in the Division and Quaker committees to promote a safe and secure working environment for all Quaker employees and guests. The individual in this position secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspecting buildings equipment and access points. The Safety & Security Specialist enforces security regulations and will also respond to and assist with emergency security safety and medical situations as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Guard industrial property against fire theft vandalism and illegal entry by way of patrolling buildings property; examining and securing doors windows and gates
  • Execute plan and enhance all Quaker hazards policies and plans including but not limited to fire weather intruder and active shooter
  • Serve as a liaison with local county district and state first responders regarding matters relating to Quaker including but not limited to emergency responses medical emergencies sounding hazard notification systems and unruly and / or unauthorized people.
  • Work with other Safety and Medical team members in supporting and promoting a safe and secure workplace.
  • Serve as security to ensure any departing personnel matters end professionally and mitigate any incidents that may arise
  • Proactively patrol buildings and grounds to assess for unauthorized presence abandoned vehicles unsecured doors and / or other risk hazards.
  • Enforce proper identification for authorized entry onto property monitor assigned areas for possible violations and enforce infractions of rules for both employees and visitors
  • Assure that all doors are lockable and properties can be adequately secured.
  • Monitor parking lots.
  • Monitor and assist with treatment of walkways and parking areas during inclement weather.
  • Inspect and maintain safety equipment such as eyewash stations as needed.
  • Conduct inspections and complete proper documentation for fire equipment and machinery operation and malfunctions general plant safety property damage unusual occurrences
  • Assist with sanitization protocols and Personal Protective Equipment identification and distribution.
  • Conduct investigations and complete professional documentation when called upon to do so.
  • Respond to and assist with emergency security safety and medical situations as needed.
  • Conduct reasonable suspicion drug testing and breathalyzers.
  • Occasionally lead safety trainings for New Employee Orientation or other audiences as needed
  • Prompt and regular attendance at an assigned work location.
  • Interact and communicate with employees and customers in an appropriate manner.
  • Availability on site to confer with staff members with whom the employee must interact on a regular basis.
  • Communicate via email prepare reports and work schedules.
  • Plan prioritize and monitor inspections
  • Review and analyze data and information for inspections and investigations.
  • Complete assigned tasks / projects in a timely manner.

Supervisory Responsibility

No direct management or supervisory responsibilities.

Safety

Observe safety and security policies and procedures including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment; report potentially unsafe conditions; and use equipment and materials properly. Follow all job-specific safety requirements including but not limited to wearing gloves and proper disposal of used medical supplies.

Travel

Approximately 10% local travel may be required for commuting between the local Quaker buildings and campuses to patrol buildings monitor lots inspect equipment complete investigations or for team meetings or professional development.

Qualifications

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and / or ability required.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software : Excel Word Outlook
  • Knowledge of applicable rules regulations policies and procedures
  • Proficient in video surveillance and social media
  • Licensed or eligible to obtain a Missouri Conceal and Carry Permit
  • First Aid and CPR Certified or able and willing to receive training to obtain certification.
  • Preferred Education and Experience

    The expectation is that the individual has achieved a minimum level of education and / or related expertise to qualify for this position.

  • High School Diploma or a passed General Education Development test required
  • Must have sufficient experience to demonstrate the ability to handle emergency situations
  • Security military and or law enforcement background preferred

    This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday during normal business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

  • regularly lift and / or carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally more to assist with the lifting or movement of a human in an emergency situation
  • access locked doors or areas in an emergency
  • work shifts of at least 8 hours and occasionally longer for 5 days each week
  • stand or walk for prolonged periods
  • occasionally bend climb or balance; and stoop kneel crouch or crawl as necessary
  • Vision abilities required by this job may include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

    It is an essential job function and safety rule applicable to every employee working in a safety sensitive classified position to be able to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

    Work Environment

    While performing the duties of this job the employee is exposed to climactic variations fumes or airborne particles various levels of vibration and moving mechanical parts. Various different types of Personal Protective Equipment might be required based on the employees work location. The noise level in the work area is usually low but hearing protection may be advisable or required for prolonged visits to certain parts of the factory.
