About the Role

AWS’s Agentic AI Organization is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead a strategic initiative focused on accelerating enterprise software modernization. This person will be the single-threaded owner for tools and strategies for Windows and database modernization, leading a team of engineers and product managers in developing cutting-edge solutions that leverage generative AI to transform software maintenance and modernization.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Work closely with executives across AWS and some of our largest customers; collaborate with the best minds in agentic AI, ML, and cloud computing to drive innovation that directly impacts AWS’s market position.
  • Lead and develop an engineering and product organization, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
  • Spearhead the development of AI‑powered tools and experiences, using state‑of‑the‑art technologies.
  • Partner with global systems integrators to drive large‑scale projects.
  • Build and maintain relationships with C‑level executives and technical leaders at Fortune 100 enterprise customers.
  • Collaborate across AWS teams to integrate new services and capabilities into the migration framework.

Day‑to‑Day Activities

  • Serve as the technical and strategic leader for driving innovation in modernization technologies and processes.
  • Lead and develop a engineering and product organization, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation, and working closely on science technologies.
  • Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of technology leadership experience, with significant exposure to enterprise systems.
  • Hands‑on experience with agentic AI and state‑of‑the‑art AI / ML technologies.
  • Proven track record of leading high‑velocity engineering and product organizations, ideally in a startup environment.
  • Deep understanding of databases, Windows applications, and cloud architectures.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to engage with executive‑level stakeholders.
  • Executive presence and excellent communication skills.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in modernization or migration projects.
  • Experience partnering with systems integrators and managing complex partner relationships.
  • Benefits & Compensation

    The base pay for this position ranges from $264,100 per year in our lowest geographic market up to $350,000 per year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Depending on the position offered, equity, sign‑on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits.
