Staff Data Scientist, Monetization

We’re looking for a Staff Data Scientist to lead data-driven monetization and pricing strategy for QuickBooks. In this role, you’ll serve as the subject matter expert on how we price, package, and optimize value across our ecosystem. You’ll design pricing models, guide experimentation, and partner with business leaders to inform critical monetization decisions.

This is a highly visible and strategic role — ideal for a data scientist who combines deep technical expertise in pricing analytics with strong business judgment and the ability to influence at the executive level.

Responsibilities

• Monetization Leadership : Serve as the subject matter expert on pricing and monetization strategy, defining frameworks for how pricing decisions are made, what data informs them, and how impact is measured.
• Model Development : Design and deploy advanced pricing models (e.g., elasticity, lifetime value, discount optimization) that guide real-world pricing and packaging decisions.
• Financial Forecasting : Build robust financial and scenario models to forecast revenue, profitability, and customer impact, enabling data-driven strategic planning.
• Experimentation Strategy : Apply experimentation principles to pricing and monetization — advising on methodologies, interpreting results, and ensuring insights are actionable.
• Cross-functional Influence : Partner with PMM, Finance, Monetization, and other Data Science teams to align on pricing trade-offs and execution of monetization initiatives.
• Executive Storytelling : Translate complex analytical findings into clear, persuasive narratives that influence senior leadership decisions.
• Advanced degree (MS / PhD) in a quantitative field such as Economics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in data science or analytics, with significant focus on pricing, monetization, or revenue optimization.
• Proven expertise in pricing model development (e.g., elasticity modeling, LTV optimization, demand forecasting).
• Hands-on experience applying experimentation frameworks to pricing and monetization (e.g., A / B testing, causal inference, quasi-experiments).
• Strong proficiency in Python and / or R, and SQL for data manipulation, modeling, and automation.
• Demonstrated ability to influence executive decision-making with data-driven insights.
• Comfort navigating ambiguity, setting analytical direction, and driving clarity across multiple stakeholders.
• Exceptional communication skills — able to translate complex analysis into compelling strategic narratives.
