If you are experienced in site installation, equipment maintenance, and vendor support within the telecommunications or satellite communications industry and have 2+ years of relevant experience, then you will be excited about the Site Engineer II opening with Iridium supporting a Space Development Agency (SDA) project. As a Site Engineer II, you'll autonomously complete tasks as they relate to supporting global site installations, equipment maintenance, and on-site vendor and contractor oversight. In this role, you will focus primarily on coordinating and supporting on-site activities, ensuring adherence to installation standards, supporting integration efforts, and carrying out maintenance tasks at both domestic and international locations. You will thrive in this role if you are a highly motivated self-starter who excels in fast-paced environments, demonstrates strong organizational skills, and consistently maintains a safe and compliant work environment.

This position requires an active / current Top Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

What You'll Do :

Perform routine site maintenance and support on-site activities to ensure optimal performance and minimal service interruptions

  • Observe work being performed by vendors and contractors, and provide accurate reporting on completed tasks, material usage, and any identified shortages
  • Ensure a safe working environment by actively monitoring site conditions, enforcing safety policies, and reporting all incidents to management
  • Conduct scheduled maintenance activities, including changing and cleaning filters, recording equipment readings, cleaning systems, and testing functionality to maintain operational readiness
  • Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and internal teams to troubleshoot equipment issues and craft solutions to resolve problems at global sites
  • Apply technical knowledge of antenna systems, UPS units, generators, and site equipment to support installation, integration, and maintenance activities
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional internal teams and external partners to meet mission needs and deliver successful outcomes
  • Adapt to evolving mission requirements, quickly learn new equipment and processes, and continuously improve technical proficiency to support operational objectives

What You'll Need to Succeed :

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field OR equivalent relevant experience in lieu of degree
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in the telecommunications or satellite communications industry
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly present information and ideas to others
  • Have confidence and be able to easily build meaningful relationships with your manager and members of your team
  • Must be able to prioritize your tasks, be self-aware enough to identify and correct mistakes, and not be afraid to ask for help when needed
  • Be active in seeking out ways to improve yourself and gain new knowledge, and be enthusiastic in sharing knowledge with others
  • Things That Would be Great if You Brought to the Table :

  • Experience with satellite network installation
  • Experience with Data Center installation
  • We'll also need you to :

  • Be able to travel up to 50%
  • When not traveling, be able to work in the office at least 3 or more days a week to foster collaboration with the team and stakeholders
  • Be able to lift up to 30 pounds, stand for multiple hours, and climb short ladders
  • This position directly performs under, supports, or is exposed to a U.S. government contract. To comply with the requirements of Iridium's U.S. government contracts, applicants for this position must be U.S. citizens.
