Special Education Teacher

Location : Nottoway, Virginia

Pay Rate : $52–55 per hour

Schedule : Monday – Friday, Day Shift (approximately 37.5 hours per week)

Contract Length : Full 2025–2026 School Year (with potential to extend)

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team in Nottoway County, VA. The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction and support to students with varying learning needs in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This role offers a competitive hourly rate and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a collaborative school environment.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.

Provide differentiated instruction to meet the unique needs of each student.

Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to promote student success.

Conduct assessments and progress monitoring to evaluate student growth and adjust instruction accordingly.

Maintain accurate documentation and compliance with federal, state, and district guidelines.

Foster a positive, inclusive, and structured classroom environment.

Participate in IEP meetings, parent conferences, and professional development as required.

Utilize effective behavior-management techniques to support students' social and emotional development.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or related field.

Active Virginia teaching license with a Special Education endorsement (or eligibility to obtain one).

Previous experience working with students in special education settings (preferred).

Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.

Ability to adapt instructional methods to meet diverse student needs.

Assignment Details

Setting : Resource, Self-Contained, or Inclusion (specific placement based on experience and district needs)

Hours : 7.5 hours per day, Monday–Friday

Caseload : Varies by school and grade level

Start Date : As soon as possible or per district calendar

IDR Job ID #469800. Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 37 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
