Schedule : Full-time | Monday–Friday | 7 : 50 AM start time | Flexibility required
Pay Range :
- Medical Assistants : $19.00–$20.50 / hr
- Patient Care Techs : $19.00–$20.00 / hr
- Optometric Techs : $19.00–$21.00 / hr
- Surgical Techs : Up to ~$23–24 / hr
- Ophthalmic Techs : Based on experience ($20–26 / hr range)
About the Opportunity
Our Retina / Ophthalmology practice is growing and seeking a Clinical Ophthalmic / Retina Technician for our offices.
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with direct patient care experience , strong EMR competency , and a desire to join a fast-paced specialty with long-term career growth.
We provide extensive paid training in Ophthalmology / Retina—no prior eye care experience required, but you must be a quick learner with strong technical skills.
Key Responsibilities
Perform patient workups including medical history, chief complaint, ROS, past surgeries, medications, and relevant ocular information.Conduct pre-exam testing : visual acuity, tonometry, pupillary dilation, basic diagnostic assessments.Prepare and set up for intravitreal injections , including pulling drug, documenting lot numbers, expiration dates, and all EHR-required information.Clean and prepare surgical instruments for sterile processing; assist with autoclave operation.Maintain inventory of instruments, clinical supplies, and exam room materials.Assist with maintenance and upkeep of clinical exam equipment.Open and close exam and injection rooms.Assist with imaging / photography if trained.Support daily high-volume patient flow (50+ patients / day common).Collect consent forms and assist in general clinical coordination.Qualifications
Direct patient care experience (MA, PCT, Optometric Tech, Ophthalmic Tech, etc.).Strong EMR and computer skills — comfort learning NextGen strongly preferred.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high patient volume.Excellent communication (written and verbal), strong interpersonal skills.Nice-to-Have
Retina or ophthalmology experience (COA, COT, ophthalmic testing).Experience preparing injections or working in a surgical / sterile environment.Training & Development
Up to 3 months of training in Monroeville, PA , depending on skill level and experience.Training includes : injections, EMR (NextGen), triage, imaging, photography, procedures, and full scope of clinical operations.Practice pays for ongoing education , including COA certification for those pursuing ophthalmic credentials.Travel Expectations
Most staff cover a secondary office up to 25% of the timeTriadelphia candidates are not required to travel, but it is a bonus if able to occasionally cover the nearest site (Bethel Park).Mileage reimbursement at full federal rate (67¢ / mile) available after conversion to permanent employee.Practice Locations
