JOB SUMMARY
Performs supervisory and investigative program work. Work involves assisting in the coordination of
activities of staff engaged in the investigation of violations of department policies and procedures fraud
employee misconduct federal court orders and criminal law; and supervising the work of others. Works
under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
coordinates and assigns investigations and monitors work load and work output; assists in the
preparation of program guidelines policies procedures rules and regulations; assists in conducting
program analysis studies to develop and recommend solutions to problems; and assists in
implementing solutions.
B. Conducts criminal and administrative investigations to include obtaining relevant documentation
interviewing victims and witnesses and preparing correspondence; maintains liaison with unit
management and other law enforcement agencies; prepares and reviews reports of investigations
and program activities; and ensures the security of crime scenes.
C. Assists in the preparation of training and operational manuals; and provides training and technical
assistance to investigators and other program staff.

cardiovascular endurance anaerobic power muscular strength and endurance explosive leg power
and agility.
E. Supervises the work of others.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A. Education Experience and Training
1. Sixty semester hours from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by
the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of
Education (USDE) and four years full-time wage-earning licensed peace officer experience with
a bona fide law enforcement agencyor
thirty semester hours from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by
the CHEA or the USDE and six years full-time wage-earning licensed peace officer experience
with a bona fide law enforcement agencyor
ten years full-time wage-earning licensed peace officer experience with a bona fide law
enforcement agency.
2. Experience in criminal or administrative investigations preferred.
3. Experience in the supervision of employees preferred.
4. Currently holds an active Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Texas Peace
Officer license or meets the minimum standards for initial Peace Officer licensure set forth in
TCOLE Rule 217.1 inclusive of having passed the TCOLE Peace Officer licensing examination
within two years of the Commissions receipt of the license application.
Standards test in order to continue in the selection process.
Employees must annually pass the OIG Physical Performance Standards test or OIG Job
Simulation test for continued employment.
