Position Summary
GEICO is seeking an experienced Engineer with a passion for building high-performance, low-maintenance, zero-downtime platforms and applications. You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission, while co‑creating a culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement.
Position Responsibilities
- Provide technical and thought leadership across multiple areas of the enterprise.
- Collaborate with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to solve our toughest problems.
- Develop and execute a technical software development strategy for a variety of domains.
- Ensure the quality, usability, and performance of solutions.
- Utilize programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Node.js, Objective‑C, C#, Dart, Python, SQL, and NoSQL databases, including container orchestration services like Docker and Kubernetes, and Azure tools.
- Serve as a role model and mentor, coaching and strengthening the technical expertise of our engineering and product community.
- Influence and educate leadership at all levels.
- Share best practices and improve processes within and across teams.
- Analyze cost and forecast, incorporating it into business plans.
- Determine and support resource requirements, evaluate operational processes, measure outcomes, and demonstrate adaptability and continuous learning.
Qualifications
Exemplary ability to design, perform experiments, and influence engineering direction and product roadmap.Experience with modern front‑end frameworks (React, Node.js, Angular) and component architecture.Experience partnering with engineering teams and transferring research to production.Track record of publications in credible conferences and journals.Experience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code.In‑depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms.Experience solving analytical problems with quantitative approaches.Ability to excel in a fast‑paced, startup‑like environment.Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle.Fluency in at least two modern languages such as Java, Python or C#.Experience with micro‑services architecture and extensible REST APIs.Experience building architecture and design of new and current systems.Fluency in DevOps concepts, cloud architecture, and Azure DevOps operational framework.Experience in leveraging PowerShell scripting.Experience with Azure portal and application monitoring tools.In‑depth knowledge of Azure platform capabilities.Experience with security protocols and products (Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, OAuth).High proficiency in architecture assessment and proposals.Proficiency in crafting prompts using AI tools for software development tasks.Experience
10+ years of professional software development experience within the .NET framework (C#) or equivalent.8+ years of experience with architecture and design.6+ years of experience in open‑source frameworks.4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service.Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.Salary
Annual Salary Range : $120,000.00 – $260,000.00. The range is a general guideline and takes into account factors such as role scope, candidate experience, education, and market considerations.
