Your Role : As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in the Operating Room, bringing your attention to detail and adaptability to high-intensity situations. We value your skill set and are excited for you to explore how you can contribute to our team at Aurora Health Care.
Schedule / Hours : Full-time evening shifts (8 or 10 hours), Monday to Friday with on-call responsibilities (typically overnight, with about 5-8 call slots and 1-2 weekend slots in an 8-week schedule). On-call hours may vary based on staffing needs, and you will be expected to arrive within 30 minutes when on call.
Major Responsibilities :
Ensure a clean, safe, and efficient environment for optimal patient care, utilizing aseptic surgical techniques during preparation for surgical procedures.Assist with various surgical procedures and maintain knowledge of different types of surgeries.Prepare the operating room by setting up for each case, moving equipment as needed, and ensuring everything functions properly post-procedure.Act as a Second Assistant as required.Notify appropriate personnel of equipment and supply issues.Transport patients, equipment, and supplies safely.Maintain specialty carts, ensuring all items are available and in working condition.Provide patient positioning and transportation, adhering to proper techniques.Demonstrate knowledge of age-specific patient care requirements.Licensure and Certification :
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification by the American Heart Association is required within 6 months unless otherwise determined.Education :
Completion of an accredited program in Surgical Technology is required.Experience :
No prior experience is necessary.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Understanding of aseptic techniques and operating room equipment.Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.Basic computer proficiency.Commitment to maintaining annual educational requirements for hospital-based certifications.Physical Requirements :
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and stressful environment.Capability to lift, carry, push / pull substantial weights and perform positioning duties.Regular exposure to various hazards including mechanical and chemical.Required to wear masks, gloves, goggles, and gowns.Ability to perform the physical demands of the job including sitting, standing, walking, and frequent bending or reaching.This job description outlines the essential functions of the role.
