About the Job
Peer Navigators are young adults (ages 18-28) with lived experience of unaccompanied homelessness and / or housing instability during their youth. The Peer Navigator is crucial in supporting young individuals facing potential housing crises and provides mentorship, advocacy, and connection to resources. The Peer Navigator role is a part time, 24 hour per week position with in-person office time required on Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 9 to 5 pm at our Rochester Youth Resource Center. Using a dynamic approach, Peer Navigators engage with young adults through calls, texts, and in-person interactions as needed. As representatives of their diverse peer groups, they serve as positive role models, bridging the gap between youth and Waypoint or other community service providers during a housing crisis. The Peer Navigator and Youth Navigator operate collaboratively and within a larger team and are also part of a coordinated community of care dedicated to addressing youth and young adult homelessness.
