Travel – Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA)
Location - Midland, MI
Shift: 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM (10-hour days)
Call: 1–2 nights per week & every 4th weekend
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours/week
Contract Length: 13 Weeks
Job Summary
This position supports the surgical team by preparing the operating room and assisting the surgeon throughout the procedure. The Surgical First Assistant works closely with the surgical technologist and registered nurse to ensure all instruments, supplies, and equipment are available and functioning properly. The assistant provides intraoperative support to help ensure safe, high-quality surgical outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Demonstrates knowledge of surgical procedures, anatomy, physiology, and operative techniques
Ensures all required supplies, equipment, and instruments are opened, available, and charged appropriately
Assists the surgeon with positioning, draping, retracting, suctioning, sponging, tissue handling, cautery, stapling devices, and suturing
Assists with patient transport, positioning, and overall perioperative care
Supports the operating room team using a collaborative, team-based approach
Required Experience
Minimum 2 years of Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) experience – REQUIRED
Preferred
Prior travel assignment experience
Certifications (REQUIRED)
Active certification through
National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
or
American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA)
Active BLS through the
American Heart Association
Schedule Details
10-hour day shifts (6:30A – 5:00P)
1–2 nights of call per week
Every 4th weekend on call
