Alerion Healthcare is seeking a travel nurse RN ED - Emergency Department for a travel nursing job in Geneva, New York. Job Description & Requirements Specialty : ED - Emergency Department Discipline : RN Start Date : 12 / 01 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours Employment Type : Travel This is a RN Travel position. You must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered for this position.   • Pay package is based on 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined for travel positions. Position Overview Type of Position : Travel Description : Emergency Department Registered Nurse Position Schedule Details Day / Night / Weekend / Holiday Rotational schedule (3x12 hour shifts) 2 On Call shifts per 4 weeks 48-hour contract option available with no On Call requirement (3x12 shifts only) Candidate must be able to work through January with no guaranteed return to office on the 3 major holidays Required Certifications BLS, ACLS, PALS, Stroke Certification (Must be AHA or RQI) NIHSS certification NYS RN Licensure Required Experience Two years acute hospital experience as an RN One year ED hospital experience as an RN Position Overview The Emergency Department Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical, and communication skills in delivering high quality compassionate care to patients and families. The ED RN assesses patient need, identifies the urgent or emergent care priority, and collaboratively provides direct care, applies appropriate interventions, and evaluates patient progress. The ED RN evidences skill in the use of various invasive and non-invasive procedures, treatments, and therapeutic interventions appropriate to manage life-threatening and routine emergency situations. The ED RN utilizes the principles of relationship based care to alleviate anxiety, provide information, and address pain / discomfort and safety. He / She assesses the physiological, psychosocial, emotional, and cultural needs of patients of all age groups, their families, and support systems as appropriate. Key Responsibilities Patient Assessment and Triage Connects with patient and family during triage Identifies the initial management of patients of all age groups and assigns priority of care in accordance with Triage Standards as outlined in the ESI training Establishes rapport with patients and families, addresses comfort needs, listens carefully, assesses nonverbal communication, and provides frequent updates Conveys and gathers information concisely and accurately Clinical Assessment and Care Conducts primary assessment of critical need, detects and documents any major deviation from norm for all age groups within acceptable time frames, and correctly identifies the necessary steps / interventions required Uses direct observation, patient / family interview, EMS report, and data to conduct secondary assessment Identifies contributing factors, health history, events, or activities preceding the emergent health event Assesses the psychosocial needs of each individual (including family dynamics), and documents and reports any suspicion of domestic violence or abuse in all age groups Reassesses the patient to identify response to treatment and / or changes in condition and responds appropriately Team Collaboration and Leadership Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to accomplish the best possible patient outcome Teaches others as appropriate and delegates tasks and interventions consistent with the individual's education, training, and scope of practice Understands the personal responsibility to safeguard public safety through compliance with infection prevention strategies Patient Education and Discharge Planning Prepares patient, parent, or family for diagnostic procedures and treatments Makes appropriate referrals for post-emergency care Teaches the patient what is needed to continue care / healing at home Assesses the patient / family learning styles and structures the sessions to maximize understanding Asks questions to evaluate retention of key points in the education and discharge instruction Patient-Centered Care Seeks to understand what is most important to the patient / family, acknowledging that the patient and family are the central focus of all care and services Embraces the importance of creating a Healing Environment as a key element of professional nursing practice Keeps patient and significant others informed of process of care, anticipates patient / family needs (including notification of family / support system for the patient) Maintains awareness of the patient's condition / situation throughout the ER visit Updates patient communication boards throughout the ED stay Alerion Healthcare Job ID 1676.
