About The Position

Experience : Minimum of 1 year of Behavioral Health nursing experience required. Pediatric Behavioral Health experience preferred.

License : State Nursing License required.

Certifications : BLS, MOAB obtained on-site during orientation.

Must-Have :

De-escalation experience.

Experience with physical restraints (chemical restraints are not used).

Comfortable with medication passes.

Ability to run group sessions.

Proficient in documentation.

Description :

Start needed on 11 / 10.

Interviews will be simplified.

No requests for time off for major holidays, including Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.

Willingness to float between pediatric and adult units as needed.

Work will be 4 shifts weekly from 6 : 00 AM to 3 : 30 PM.

Facility has a total of 94 beds, including 50 for pediatrics and 44 for adults.

All patients come from an emergency department and are medically cleared.

Not typical to encounter lines, drains, tubes, etc.

Involuntary and voluntary admissions are accepted.

Pediatric patients range from ages 5 to 18.

Common pediatric diagnoses include eating disorders, depression, suicidal ideation, anxiety, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, and gender dysphoria.

Adult patients include those aged 18 and over, including geriatric patients.

Common adult diagnoses include schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, and bipolar disorder.

Substance use disorder or detoxing patients may occasionally be seen, provided they have been medically cleared.

Care provided includes traditional medical and psychiatric care as well as specialized therapies, such as pet therapy, group sessions, and community gardens.

Patient ratios for registered nurses during the day are 1 : 5 to 1 : 6, with resource support at night at 1 : 13.

Psych tech support is available with 6 techs for pediatrics during the day and 2 at night.

Adult patient support includes 2 techs during the day and 2 at night.

Nurse supervisors are available during evenings and weekends.

Nursing manager is on site during the day.

House administrators are available overnight and on weekends.

Charge nurses may have a patient assignment but it is not required.

Psychiatry support includes daily rounds and on-call coverage.

Occupational therapy is available 7 days per week.

Security is on-site but does not respond to patient escalations; staff from all units respond instead.

Charting is done via a specific electronic health record system.

The traveler may have the opportunity to act as charge nurse but it is not a requirement.

Weekend rotations are expected every other week, including Saturday and Sunday.

Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed.

Holiday work is required in rotation.

Time off approval for up to 7 days is permitted, with adjustments made if a candidate cannot work all scheduled shifts within a week.

Scrubs must be of any solid color and must maintain a professional appearance.
