Holy Cross Academy Early Childhood Program
School Overview
Holy Cross Academy (HCA) is a vibrant preschool through 8th grade school with over 500 students enrolled. HCAs Early Childhood Program serves children ages 25 across nine classrooms on our Affton Missouri campus. The Early Childhood campus features three dedicated outdoor play spaces and multiple indoor areas designed for movement exploration and play.
Teachers at HCA are expected to create child-centered learning environments that promote active exploration curiosity and development across all learning domains for children of all abilities.
Position Summary
Summer Teachers and Summer Teacher Assistants work with children ages 26 supporting classroom activities through play-based learning centers. This position is part of a collaborative team approach focused on providing engaging classroom experiences outdoor play water activities and daily school routines in a safe and nurturing environment.
Schedule & Location
- Hours: 2540 hours weekly
- Schedule: Regular weekly schedule for 11 weeks
- Position Dates: May 26 2026 August 6 2026

Job Responsibilities
- Support children as they transition into a new summer classroom environment
- Assist with play-based learning centers and small group activities
- Complete age-appropriate art projects and sensory activities
- Read stories sing songs and engage children in language-rich experiences
- Assist with snacks and lunchtime routines
- Monitor and engage children during outdoor play and water activities
- Help teachers with classroom management and daily routines
- Work collaboratively with staff to provide a positive and supportive learning environment
- Complete other tasks as assigned
Job Requirements
- Must be 16 years of age or older
- Ability to navigate multiple stairs and outdoor playground surfaces
- Ability to sit on the floor and child-sized chairs while working with children
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a daily basis
- Willingness to complete Protecting Gods Children training and pass a background check
- Reliable flexible and able to work as part of a team
