Under general supervision performs day-to-day tasks to maintain labor distributions to ensure that Grants and other Funds in the general ledger are appropriately being charged for labor. Manage post-award financial administration in various grant accounts. Train other fiscal officers, administrators, and managers on the proper allocation of salaries and fringes. Coordinate with Human Resources and Office of Budget and Planning, Office of Controller on personnel budgeting issues. Assist in college-wide budget plan.
DAILY OPERATIONS
- Performs post-award financial administration of grants and contracts.
- Accounts for grants and contracts assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenditures in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and with contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Process payroll reallocations.
- Responsible for budget maintenance on assigned accounts.
- Extracts, analyzes, and interprets financial data and communicates timely and effectively to appropriate individuals.
- Develops ad hoc financial / analytical reports for senior management or for internal use.
- Meets with principal investigators, assistant deans, administrative assistants, and fiscal officers to discuss budgets and expenditures.
- Prepares journal entries, cash receipts, and cash disbursement entries.
- Works to improve processes
- Prepares federal financial status reports annually on assigned accounts.
- Prepares monthly and quarterly government billings on assigned accounts.
- Gains on-hands working knowledge of College’s operating systems.
- Participates in industry and other professional networks to ensure awareness of industry standards, trends, and best practices in order to strengthen organizational and technical knowledge.
- Monitors time and effort reporting.
- Monitors legislation, regulations, developments, and changes related to federal, state, and local grants and keeps abreast of all issues regarding compliance, reporting, accounting, and auditing.
- Processes purchase documents on a daily basis.
- Informs principal investigators of changes in grant policies and procedures.
- Assists in the preparation of facilities and administrative cost proposals.
- May supervise other Financial Analysts from time to time.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by the supervisor
