The Role

AvalonBay has invested heavily in building a modern Revenue Management Platform to transform how we optimize pricing and maximize yield across our multifamily portfolio. To fully realize this vision, we are hiring a Director, Revenue Management Platforma first-of-its-kind leadership role at AvalonBay that will shape the strategy, technology, and execution of dynamic pricing capabilities across the company. This role offers the unique opportunity to bring best practices from hospitality, eCommerce, and yield-intensive industries to multifamily real estate, driving innovation in pricing optimization, predictive modeling, and revenue management. This role will report directly to the Senior Director or VP, Product Management at AvalonBay Communities.

What You'll Do

Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Define and lead the strategy for AvalonBay's Revenue Management Platform, setting the vision, success metrics, and innovation roadmap for pricing optimization.
  • Serve as the central product leader across data science, engineering, marketing, leasing, and revenue management to ensure the platform delivers measurable business impact.
  • Benchmark against industry leaders in hospitality, travel, and eCommerce to bring state-of-the-art yield management practices into multifamily housing.

Platform Delivery & Innovation

  • Oversee the design, development, and launch of a scalable, data-driven pricing platform with integrated predictive analytics and dynamic pricing capabilities.
  • Ensure seamless data ingestion, modeling pipelines, and real-time pricing optimization aligned with market supply and demand signals.
  • Drive adoption of platform capabilities across business functions to ensure operational alignment and revenue impact.
  • Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Lead a team of direct reports responsible for pricing, inventory management, data integrations, and platform capabilities.
  • Collaborate closely with Data Science teams to operationalize machine learning and predictive analytics into pricing workflows.
  • Work across Marketing, Leasing, Resident Experience, and Revenue Management to ensure pricing decisions are consistent, data-driven, and scalable.
  • What Success Looks Like

  • Year One : Establish clear KPIs, launch foundational platform capabilities, and secure cross-functional adoption.
  • Longer Term : Deliver measurable gains in revenue per available unit, pricing accuracy, occupancy optimization, and operational efficiency. Position AvalonBay as an industry leader in revenue management for multifamily housing, like best-in-class practices in hospitality and eCommerce.
  • What We're Looking For

  • 10+ years in product management, pricing optimization, or revenue / yield management with direct leadership experience.
  • Proven track record building data-driven platforms integrating pricing, forecasting, and business operations at scale.
  • Hands-on experience with data platforms, predictive modeling, and analytics tools (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, Python, ML Ops).
  • Strong executive communication skills with the ability to influence across multiple business functions.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA, Data Science, or technical advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in hospitality, travel, eCommerce, or real estate technology strongly preferred.
