Labor & Delivery RN Job Details

Position : Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN)

Location : Kankakee, Illinois (60901) – Illinois healthcare jobs

Assignment Length : 13-week travel nursing contract

Shift : 12-hour night shifts (5 : 00pm – 5 : 30am)

Hours per Week : 36 guaranteed

Estimated Weekly Salary : $1880 - $2020

Scheduling : Self-scheduling with every other weekend rotation and every third holiday

Start Date : November 24, 2025

End Date : February 23, 2026

Dress Code : Hospital-supplied scrubs

Charting System : EpicCare Inpatient – EMR

Labor & Delivery Nurse Qualifications

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license – Illinois RN license preferred

Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery nursing experience

Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification

Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification

Current C-EFM (Electronic Fetal Heart Monitoring) certification

Experience with labor management, operating room (OR) circulation, and PACU recovery

Ability to titrate drips (Oxytocin, Insulin, Magnesium)

Proficient in reading and interpreting fetal monitoring strips

Valid Driver's License required for submission

Labor & Delivery RN Responsibilities

Deliver comprehensive nursing care to laboring patients, including labor management, delivery, and postpartum care

Circulate in the operating room for C-sections and assist with PACU recovery

Titrate and monitor medications such as Oxytocin, Insulin, and Magnesium

Interpret and document fetal monitoring strips using GE monitors and Periwatch EFM system

Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team, including OBs, pediatricians, anesthesia, and scrub techs

Float to postpartum unit as needed based on patient volume

Participate in self-scheduling and adhere to weekend / holiday rotation requirements

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EpicCare EMR
