YOU WILL BE :
As the Director of Lifecycle Marketing, you will lead both the strategy and execution of Saks Off Fifth's triggered and transactional messaging programs across Email and Mobile (SMS & Push). This role is essential in crafting and delivering personalized customer journeysfrom onboarding and engagement to loyalty and reactivationthat drive retention and revenue. With a small but agile team (one direct report), this is a highly hands-on role requiring a strong mix of strategic thinking and tactical expertise. You will own campaign execution from concept to deployment, while also partnering across the business to influence priorities and share insights that improve performance at scale.
WHAT YOU WILL DO :
- Own the end-to-end strategy, execution, and performance of triggered and transactional lifecycle campaigns across Email and Mobile to drive sales growth and engagement.
- Personally manage campaign developmentincluding briefs, audience segmentation, QA, and deploymentwhile guiding and developing an Associate.
- Define the optimization strategy and testing roadmap for lifecycle programs, including : welcome, abandoned cart, browse, reactivation, post-purchase, loyalty, inventory (back in stock, low in stock), at-risk campaigns, order & shipping confirmations, personalized recommendations, cancellations, returns, upcoming deliveries, and more.
- Define and drive the testing roadmap to continuously improve performance across segmentation, creative, cadence, and channels.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Analytics, Creative, Merchandising, Product) to align lifecycle messaging with business priorities and campaigns.
- Partner with Analytics to forecast revenue contribution, model retention impact, and analyze performance to surface insights and optimization opportunities.
- Identify new opportunities to enhance personalization, automation, and channel integration within lifecycle while finding opportunities to automate manual sends.
- Maintain operational excellence by ensuring flawless campaign execution and developing scalable processes for QA, deployment, and reporting.
- Act as a subject matter expert for lifecycle and triggered messaging, bringing forward platform capabilities, competitive insights, and best practices.
- Track and report on key KPIs such as conversion rate, engagement, CLTV, deliverability, and unsubscribe rate, sharing results and recommendations regularly.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING :
7-9 years of experience in Lifecycle, CRM, or Email / Mobile Marketing (in-house or agency), with direct ownership of triggered / transactional programs. Comfortable being hands-on : setting up campaigns, managing QA, reviewing data, and deploying messages, not just overseeing strategy. Experience managing at least one direct report, with a focus on mentorship, quality, and collaboration. Direct experience with setting up, launching, and optimizing triggered campaigns across platforms; Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Algonomy and Attentive experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated success defining audience segments, developing creative strategies for retention, and driving long-term customer value. Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. Strong analytical mindset; ability to translate performance data (using tools like Adobe Analytics, Loker, and Google Sheets) into clear insights and actions. Experience designing, executing, and analyzing A / B tests. Proven ability to build partnerships across internal teams (Engineering, Analytics, Creative, Product) and external agencies / vendors to deliver high-impact campaigns. Passion for customer loyalty, personalization, and the evolving Email & Mobile landscape; eager to stay ahead of trends, attend industry events, and share learnings.
