The Program Assistant observes, records, and responds as needed to the comings and goings of guests / residents / participants and staff, maintaining a safe and comfortable environment. The role is unionized, represented by Local 8 of the Office & Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU).
About the Program
Dons Place is a hybrid housing program in Auburn, WA, providing non?time?limited emergency housing with 24 / 7 supportive services for adults and couples. Participants receive referrals from Coordinated Entry for All (CEA) and the local Auburn community. Participants have access to daily meals, 24 / 7 staffing support, laundry, and other resources including medical and mental health services.

- LOCATION : Near Emerald Downs (Auburn, WA)
- REPORTS TO : Shift Supervisor & Program Coordinator
- SCHEDULE : Monday?Friday 4pm?12am; monthly staff meetings 3rd Thursdays 8?10am
- MEAL PERIOD : Paid (30?minutes)
- SALARY : $24.50 per hour (Step 1); Step 2 increase of 2.5% after 12 consecutive months of employment
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Provide trauma?informed monitoring of activity in and around the building, ensuring safety and comfort.Mediate conflicts and provide de?escalation and crisis intervention; refer to appropriate services as needed.Assist in support of program activities, including meal services and group activities.Engage participants to assess needs, providing referral information.Respond to participant issues as directed by program management.Report building needs to management and ensure supplies are in stock.Monitor security cameras and conduct periodic security rounds.Log all actions and incidents, reporting unusual matters to the Program Coordinator.Control after?hours front door / access and monitor guest log.Follow building safety and emergency procedures.Perform light janitorial duties as assigned.Leadership And Culture

At least 1 year of experience in a social / human service setting.Awareness and / or training around belonging, compassion, and meeting people where they are.Familiarity with topics of housing instability, mental health, substance use, sexual assault, and / or domestic violence.Experience working in an environment where language may be a barrier.Current WA State Food Handlers Permit (sponsored if not current).Physical Demands
Regularly required to talk and listen.Frequent standing, walking, and handling supplies up to 20 pounds.Long periods of sitting, working on a computer, walking to various work areas, and stair usage.Mental efforts involving critical thinking and business plan implementation.Contact with hazardous chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and other potentially infectious materials.Work Environment
