Job Summary : Deliver exceptional healthcare services by utilizing radionuclides for diagnostic imaging, aiding licensed practitioners in patient diagnosis. This role involves performing nuclear medicine procedures with precision and professionalism.
Essential Responsibilities :
- Conduct nuclear medicine diagnostic tests for both inpatients and outpatients.
- Schedule all nuclear medicine procedures efficiently.
- Verify physician orders and prepare individualized dose sheets for each patient.
- Administer and inspect radioactive doses, ensuring safety and accuracy.
- Operate specialized nuclear medicine equipment such as scintillation scanners to trace and measure radioactive isotopes.
- Prepare radioactive tracers for patient administration, adhering to strict radiation safety protocols.
- Communicate clearly with patients to explain procedures, easing anxieties and encouraging cooperation.
- Assist patients in positioning for accurate imaging and adjust equipment accordingly.
- Maintain confidentiality and detailed records of tests, results, isotope usage, and staff dosimetry.
- Ensure cleanliness and contamination-free conditions in rooms and equipment.
- Participate actively in the Radiation Safety Committee and coordinate equipment maintenance.
- Document maintenance activities and contribute to quality assurance and improvement programs.
- Provide basic life support when necessary and pursue ongoing education to stay current.
- Participate in on-call duties to provide technical support outside regular shifts as needed.
Education and Experience :
High school diploma or equivalent required.Completion of at least a one-year American Medical Association-approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program.Proficiency with computer systems.Licensure and Certifications :
Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine or Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) credential from the Society of Nuclear Medicine.State health board certification as required.This position is based in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest and offers varied shifts with scheduled weekly hours on an as-needed basis.
