Job Description

Position Summary

At Northern Ophthalmic Associates, we believe that exceptional eye care starts with a team that works well together. We are looking for a Senior Ophthalmic Technician who not only brings ophthalmic clinical skills, but also values teamwork, mentorship, patient-centered care and wants to learn!

In this role, you’ll be an important part of a group of physicians and staff who are dedicated to providing outstanding care to patients. As a growing practice, we offer room to grow and a supportive environment where your contributions are valued. We take pride in our reputation for clinical excellence, but also in being a place where people enjoy coming to work each day.

Experience in ophthalmology is key to this senior role. If you do not have ophthalmology experience, we do have Medical Technician roles available where you can learn and advance.

Key Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive patient workups, including history taking, visual acuity testing, tonometry, refraction, pupil assessment, and visual field testing.

Conduct diagnostic testing such as OCT, fundus photography, A-Scan, B-Scan, pachymetry, corneal topography, and IOL Master biometry.

Assist physicians during in-office procedures, injections, and laser treatments.

Ensure exam rooms and equipment are ready, clean, and safe for patients.

Accurately document patient information and results in our electronic health record system.

Provide clear and compassionate patient education about procedures, medications, and follow-up care.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or higher preferred.

Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) is preferred.

3 years of progressive ophthalmic technician experience.

Knowledge of ophthalmic terminology, diagnostic equipment, and clinical procedures.

Excellent communication and people skills, with a caring and professional approach.
