Utilities & Maintenance Services Water Utility Manager
This position is responsible for planning, organizing and supervising the operations and maintenance activities of the Water Utility Division, including supervising the division's employees, coordinating assigned activities with other public works divisions, and providing highly responsible and technically complex staff assistance to the Water Utility Manager.
This is a supervisory position whose work performed requires incumbents to apply a high level of professional knowledge and technical proficiency in water distribution, emergency response programs and activities, as well as using established guidelines and alternatives to determine facts, analyze problems, and make decisions without immediate supervisory review. Incumbents are responsible for the day-to-day operations and overall results in their respective area of responsibility and are also expected to alert their manager to potential issues.
Other duties may be assigned as needed.
A combination of the experience, education, and training listed below which provides an equivalent background to perform the work of this position.
Bachelor's degree in engineering technology, construction management, or a related field.
Water Distribution Manager 3 certification required upon hire, Water Distribution Manager 4 certification preferred.
Water Distribution Manager 4 certification required within twelve (12) months of hire date.
Water Treatment Plant Operator 2 certification required.
Cross Connection Control Specialist
Must possess, or have the ability to possess within one month of hire date, a Washington State Driver's License.
Must possess, or have the ability to possess within six months of hire date, first aid and CPR certifications.

This position works both in an office and outside in various weather conditions. Outside, the employee may work near moving mechanical parts. The employee may be exposed to physical hazards from mechanical and electrical equipment and also will sometimes work in hazardous areas under hazardous conditions. The employee occasionally works near traffic and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and the risk of electrical shock and radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate indoors and moderate to loud outdoors.
This position works a regular schedule, however, incumbents may be called in to work in emergency situations.
