Job Description
Controller oversee the activities of the corporate accounting and Finance Departments for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and annual audits and annual budgets.
- Oversee the activities of the disbursement department, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, purchase orders, petty cash, core employee expense reports, cash control, core payroll processing and total corporate payroll tax compliance.
- Oversee the activities of the Accounts Receivable Department to ensure the accurate and timely management of all accounts receivable aging components including billings, cash receipts application, funding service management, which includes weekly funding reports and customer service; quarter and year-end payroll closing including federal and state reports; and check statistic management.
Responsibilities
As part of the finance team, you are responsible for handling accounting duties to include assisting General Managers for multiple hotel properties with any and all issues and concerns.Assist / Support General Managers with any issues regarding AR'sManage all accounting activities for existing hotel portfolio and / or other investment properties.Responsible for oversight of Accounting Assistant and ensure all payables are paid on time. Prepare hotel bank reconciliations, journal entries, profit and loss, and balance sheet, clear all reconciling items and distribute monthly financials. All Recon's need to be completed.Reconcile credit card and balance sheet accounts.Set up Bank Accounts, Tax ID, Merchant Services, implement accounting systems and procedures for new acquisitions / hotels.Prepare and file sales tax returns and property bill backs; to include, but not limited to, management fees, health insurance, workers comp, property insurances and corporate expenses, in a timely fashion, with high productivity.Prepare Budgets and Profit and Loss Reports.Maintain copies of all property licenses, and any and all contracts for back up purposes.Prepare and monitor cash flow analysis for hotels.Review / prepare financials reports for multiple properties in accordance with reporting calendars and insure that all reports are submitted on a timely basis.As part of the Finance team : Prepare all other financial reports and analysis, perform other general and administrative functions as may be required. Assist with annual budgeting process.As part of the finance team we are required as followed : Provide insight and robust challenge to support decision making, act as a business Advisor and integrator between General Managers for resolution, and work with the business to ensure compliance and effective controls, and always conscience of the business.
