Vice President Of Finance / CFO
Headquartered in Bellevue, Washington, Sea-Bird Scientific develops and manufactures precision sensors for the measurement of salinity, temperature, pressure, dissolved oxygen, fluorescence, nutrients and related oceanographic and environmental water quality parameters. These tools are used around the world by ocean researchers, environmental scientists and marine resource managers to better understand and solve critical climate and environmental issues. Our customers include research institutes, ocean observing programs, national and local government agencies, engineering firms, and environmental consulting businesses throughout the world.
The Vice President of Finance / CFO will be a key member of Sea-Bird Scientific's executive leadership team, lead the financial organization, and prepare / analyze financial statements and results. Through sound fiscal management, this role will be a key contributor to the continuous improvement process, driving improvement of operating results, implementing the proper reporting processes, participating in commercial strategic planning, managing the budget and financial forecasts, and analyzing / reporting variances. This position has the overall responsibility for the monitoring and reporting of the financial position of Sea-Bird Scientific and provides timely analysis of the key business trends and clear interpretation of the results to effectively drive meaningful improvements and ensure that all reports are accurate and timely.
The VP / CFO will exhibit deep experience in financial principles and business strategy development with the ability to navigate the requirements of a dynamic and complex organization. This leader will be involved in 'hands on' business and change management activities while providing leadership, direction, and focus to Sea-Bird Scientific. They must be able to work as an effective business partner with the Sea-Bird Scientific President and leadership team and drive synergies / efficiencies across the organization and ideally have experience in a large international public company.
This position reports to the President of Sea-Bird Scientific with a dotted line to the (Group) CFO for the Water Quality Segment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis / Management Support
- Partner with Commercial leadership / Operations to develop financial reporting that drives insights and timely decision making
- Provide strategy for financial data that eliminates waste in reporting and streamlines financial analysis
- Work closely with the President and functional leaders in conducting detailed financial and business analyses to identify potential problems, determine root causes and recommend appropriate solutions
- Develop and maintain forecasting processes that accurately predicts future performance and motivate actions to insure it hits agreed upon target
- Explain complex financial information in a way associates at all levels can easily understand
- Own Sea-Bird Scientific's financial portion of the strategic planning process, ensure that results from initiatives are properly scoped, presented, tracked, and reported
- Generate the annual financial budget for Sea-Bird Scientific
- Submission of accurate financial statements that are compliance with US GAAP and Veralto accounting practices
- Assist in the financial evaluation of potential acquisition targets
People Development / Process Improvement
Develop financial personnel to grow professionally, ensuring sufficient opportunities are created to enable career development within Sea-Bird Scientific, Water Quality and across VeraltoDevelop and maintain effective working relationships with the leadership team as well as with Water Quality & Veralto Finance and executive teams globallyDrive the use of the Veralto Enterprise System (VES) and continuous improvement within the Finance OrganizationContinuously improve transactional and closing processes from a time, accuracy and productivity perspectiveInternal Control Systems

BS or BA Degree in Finance or Accounting required; MBA Degree and / or CPA are preferredSubstantial operational experience in increasingly responsible financial leadership positions leading to the CFO or Finance leader position in a complex, hardware manufacturing, global enterpriseThe compensation range for this role is $250,000.00 - $260,000.00 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.
