JOB SUMMARY
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) role meets the criteria as outlined by the Wyoming Board of Nursing. The LPN is able to perform additional procedures under the direction of a registered professional nurse / Licensed Independent Practitioner who follows the principles of delegation. The LPN assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care to patients and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment under the direction and supervision of the Charge Nurse or other Registered Nurse in charge of the team and / or unit. The LPN implements directions from the nursing staff and physicians assisting with direct and indirect patient care. The LPN meets the communication needs of the patient / family, departmental staff, and medical staff. Performs admission duties and ensures patient information is accurately obtained and updated in the hospital’s computer system; prepares and compiles records in the department.

This position is responsible for both Telemetry Tech and LPN job duties (90 / 10) as assigned.Verify orders in Cerner.Scan documents into appropriate files.Assist nurse team leads and managers with policy and procedure.Perform electrocardiograms in multi-settings including proper electrode placement.Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the heart in relation to waves, complexes, time, and voltage as shown through the conduction system and strip interpretation.Ability to measure complexes on the telemetry strip.Obtain a 12-lead EKG per physician order.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Experience & License
High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED), required.Licensed Practical Nursing - certificate, required.Current unrestricted Wyoming Licensed Practical Nurse – required.IV certification, required.Intro to Cardiac Rhythm Analysis certification completed within orientation period.BLS, required.ACLS, required within one year.Behavior de-escalation required within one year.Additional Skills
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.Additional languages desirable.Basic computer knowledge.Demonstrated effective organizational skills.Specific demands not listed : Possible exposure to blood and or body fluids / infectious disease / hazardous waste requiring the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Exposure to odorous chemicals / specimens and Latex products.
