Paraeducator II - Bilingual (Pashto) - 6 hrs / day (ELSD / PC#253680)

NOTE : Must be bilingual in Pashto and English.

Position Summary :

Assists one or more teachers with one-on-one or small group tutoring and / or in the direct care, supervision, and support of the children in a regular and / or special education classroom setting where bilingual / bi-literate skills are required. Maintains and prepares classroom materials, records, and assigned student files. Provides instructional assistance that reinforces learning to individuals or small groups of students.

Employee Type : Full-Time

Salary : $19.51 - $25.81 per hour in 9 annual steps. Salary placement is based on experience.

Location : English Learners Services Dept.

Hours : 6 hours / day; 5 days / week

Benefits : Medical, Dental, Vision, and Employee Life Insurance available for employees who work 4+ hours per day (Full district contribution for 6+ hours / day; 50% contribution for 4-5.99 hours / day).

Education and Experience :

The position requires the equivalent of a high school diploma plus experience working with students in a classroom or equivalent environment and successful completion of a competency exam resulting in a certificate. Requires knowledge of and competency in a second language.

Licenses and Certifications :

May require a valid driver’s license. Approved competency examination. May require a valid First Aid / CPR card.

• NCLB Compliance (48 college units (semester) or pass the Paraeducator Proficiency Exam
• Proof of HS Graduation - High School Diploma, High School Transcripts or Equivalent (ex : GED)
