KBR’s Mission Engineering Division delivers complex technical solutions and expert support to the U.S. Department of Defense, specializing in modeling and simulation, cyber transformation, air vehicle mission integration, and lifecycle support. KBR seeks a motivated and detail‑oriented professional to join the team as a Part-Time Graphic Animator . The position supports tasking at the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) Program Executive Office, Unmanned Aviation and Strike Weapons (PEO(U&W)), located in Patuxent River, MD . The selected candidate will provide graphic animation and design for training materials used by MQ-4 Triton flight operators and maintainers. This role offers the opportunity to influence cutting‑edge EW capabilities that directly support the warfighter and advance the Navy and Marine Corps’ unmanned aviation mission. Responsibilities
- Create graphic animations and illustrations for use in technical manuals, courseware, multimedia, and publications in close collaboration with technical writers, engineers, and subject matter experts.
- Operate computer hardware and software to prepare, revise, print, and store text, illustrations, graphs, charts, etc.
- Render concept art and technical illustrations from models, sketches, memory, written or verbal instructions, and imagination. Select type, place lettering, and layout materials.
- Determine style, technique, and medium best suited to produce desired effects and conform to reproduction requirements or follow specific instructions regarding these variables.
- Convert source files (.AI, .PDF, .PNG, etc.) to a CGM format output.
- Research, review, and understand technical information to develop procedural information for technical documentation; translate written requests to visual illustrations and animation through an iterative process with end user requirements, engineering data, and SME input. Flexible with work hours to accommodate surge situations based on mission requirements.
Basic Qualifications
Education & Years of Experience : BS / BA & 2 years of experience OR AA / AS & 6 years of experience OR High School Diploma or GED & 10 years of experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.Technical Skills / Software : Adobe Animate, Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator; SolidWorks, AutoCAD, 3DS Max or equivalent; 2D drafting, 3D modeling, and animation.Clearance & Citizenship : U.S. citizen. Active Secret clearance with the ability to maintain eligibility for access to classified information.Preferred Qualifications
Experience with military technical documents, delivery, and integrated logistics support (ARs, MIL-STDs, MIL-PRFs, IETMs, TPDRs, DIDs, etc.). Naval aviation maintenance experience is a plus.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint.Familiarity with XML integrated graphics (hotspots) and ASD S1000D process Data Modules.Experience with SDI Editor, VizEx Editor, IsoDraw, SolidWorks and / or CATIA.Knowledge of IETM development procedures using S1000D and related DoD MIL‑STDs, DTDs, and style sheets.Experience with EAGLE Publishing System, NAVAIR Enterprise Core Source Data Base, or equivalent.Position may offer a flexible remote workplace setting.
Position Details
Scheduled Weekly Hours : 20 hours / weekBasic Compensation : $62,000-$93,000 (based on full-time 40-hour week).
