Job Title : Medical Provider Director Job Description

General Description of Position : Performs high quality pharmacological management service to clients with challenges in the area of mental health, mental retardation and substance abuse. Consultation provided to patients for diagnostic purposes as well as for titration. Evaluation on hospitalization, suicide and homicide risk assessment provided. Collaborator and team member with Chief Medical Officer and other Medical Providers in the practice; both with the administration and with clinicians of other disciplines, to be maximally effective in accomplishing the goals and functions of this position. Ensure adherence to clinical practice guidelines and documentation requirements. Ensures certification at all levels of care. Determination and monitoring of Standards of Intensity : appropriate and timely use of psychopharmacological agents, milieu therapy, consultations, and family therapy to integrate the best possible care for patients under caseload.

Training : CPR and IST Aid.

Licensure / Certification / Credentialing : Driver license, Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) or Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).

Essential functions and responsibilities :

• Provides clinical services at a level consistent with medical policies, state & federal requirements.
• Direct services to patient in a face-to-face encounter.
• Insures and prescribes medication for consumers with consideration of benefits and adverse effects, using relevant medical and mental health prescribing practices, best practices.
• Ensures clinical integration of intake, evaluations, treatment recommendations, and treatment plans, therapeutic interventions / or dispositions will involve taking clients cooperation into consideration.
• Accepts other responsibilities as deemed necessary by clinical necessity.
• Maintains confidentiality and privacy as directed by local policies and governmental policies-regulations such as HIPAA & DSHS.
• Ensures services performed will be documented in the consumers records and will reflect treatment 95% of the time.
• Participates in the design of unit services and training for staff as well as attending to mandatory meetings as required.
• Maintains regular communication channels with medical, administrative and rehabilitative staff.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Thorough knowledge of medicine and community psychiatry or mental health. Ability to evaluate patients, set up, and carries out effective course of treatment utilizing the abilities of a clinical person. Outstanding knowledge of principles of the development, implementation, and documentation of individualized care and treatment plans. Ability to relate to consumer, employees, and public in a professional manner. Follow oral and written instructions, and ability to set priorities. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to define problems, to collect data, to establish facts, to and draw conclusions. Ability to adhere to articulated policy and procedures. Ensure documentation of clinical progress notes in a daily basis adhering to state regulations.

Education : Completed formal education of Master Degree from accredited programs such as : Physician Assistant Program (PA) with certification and / or Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).

Experience and Training : Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state of Texas. Completed internship in a Mental Health Practice or Medical Program and 1 year of experience.

Physical Activities / Physical Demands : Sitting 2 / 3 of time. Stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel, reach with hands and arms, twist at the waist, push and / or pull less than 1 / 3 of time. Lift and carry maximum of 15 pounds less than 2 / 3 of time, lift and carry 15 to 44 pounds less than 1 / 3 of time.
