The Halal Shack – Food Production Teammate
PURPOSE
The Grill Cook and Prep Cook are responsible for preparing and cooking high-quality, scratch-made dishes while ensuring strict adherence to food safety and sanitation standards. This role plays a key part in delivering exceptional guest experiences through consistently excellent food and operational efficiency.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepare and cook food items according to approved SOPs (recipes and procedures), focusing on quality and consistency.
- Maintain food preparation areas, serving areas, and kitchen equipment to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices.
- Ensure all food is stored, prepared, and cooked at the correct temperatures to maintain safety and quality and to The Halal Shack Brand Standards
- Monitor the freshness and quality of ingredients by rotating stock, checking for spoilage, and ensuring adherence to inventory best practices.
- Observe and test foods during preparation to ensure they meet established standards for quality and doneness.
- Coordinate and assist kitchen staff in food preparation, ensuring smooth and efficient operations during service.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, following established guidelines to minimize risk and maintain equipment integrity.
- Follow all sanitation and food production codes, including HACCP standards, ensuring the highest levels of cleanliness and safety.
- Contribute to a positive guest experience by consistently delivering high-quality Recipes and Standards.
- Ensuring product levels needed for proper guest service are timeliness during peak meal periods.
- Perform additional operational tasks as needed to support kitchen and restaurant efficiency.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

High school diploma or equivalent combination experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
Ability to lift 25 pounds occasionally
Occasional computer use
SCOPE AND DIRECTION
Reports to : CAS Restaurants and Cafes Management
FSLA Status : Part time- Non Exempt
Rate of pay $15.50 per hour
