Duties
Summary
The United States Capitol Police (USCP) safeguards the Congress, Members of Congress, employees, visitors, and Congressional buildings and grounds from crime, disruption, and terrorism. We protect and secure Congress so it can fulfill its constitutional and legislative responsibilities in a safe, secure and open environment.

Requirements and Qualifications
Requirements
Must be a current USCP sworn employee below the rank of Sergeant and have attained the rank of Private with Training. Must have completed probationary period by the closing date. Must possess and maintain a valid U.S. driver's license and successfully complete all required training.
Qualifications
Education : There is no education substitution for experience in this series and / or grade.
Additional Information
Applications and supporting documentation must be received by the closing date. This position is non-exempt from FLSA overtime provisions and is included in a collective bargaining unit. More than one selection may be made from this vacancy announcement. The selection list is active for one year from the approval date. You may request removal from consideration in writing to the Office of Human Resources. Retention criteria include completion of the 18-week Communication Operators Training Program with WALES and NCIC certifications, and ongoing proficiency with radio, computer equipment, security systems, and related databases.
Evaluation and Selection
The selection process includes Phase I : Initial Qualification; Phase II : KSA Assessment; Phase III : Structured Interview. Final recommendations are subject to the Chief of Police approval and may be influenced by disciplinary records and other factors.
