Medical Science Liaison-Pediatric Endocrinology & Rare Disease (Southern CA)1788
Ascendis Pharma is a dynamic, fast‑growing global biopharmaceutical company advancing programs in Endocrinology, Rare Disease, and Oncology. We are looking for a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) who will serve as the external‑facing scientific expert in Medical Affairs, communicating confidently about our products using clinical and scientific expertise.
Base Pay Range
$180,000.00 / yr – $190,000.00 / yr
The position is remote and reports to the Director, Field Medical Team.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the field-based external medical representation of Medical Affairs.
- Create awareness of Ascendis Pharma in the endocrinology community and communicate the potential of TransCon technology to transform endocrinology practice.
- Maintain high medical expertise to support the portfolio / pipeline and relevant disease states.
- Provide medical / scientific presentations to internal and external audiences.
- Identify key opinion leaders (KOLs) and key organizations (professional associations, patient advocacy groups) for disease states within a geography.
- Identify the scientific needs of healthcare providers, researchers, and patient advocates important to patient care.
- Develop and maintain a KOL engagement plan that fosters collaborative relationships.
- Capture external insights about the disease state, Ascendis portfolio, pipeline, and competitors, and communicate to internal stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships with internal colleagues (Market Access, Marketing, Sales) by providing medical expertise and support.
- Collaborate with Medical Outcomes Scientific Liaisons (MOSLs) to support regional deliverables.
- Participate in the development and implementation of the Field Medical Team strategic goals and objectives.
- Provide scientific support at medical congresses, including clinical data presentations and scientific exchanges at the medical affairs booth.
- Provide internal onboarding and ongoing medical training for commercial and medical colleagues.
- Engage with external researchers as primary contact for investigator-initiated trials (IITs).
- Support clinical trial operations, ensuring success with planned and ongoing trials, including investigator and site engagement.
- Document all relevant activities in the CRM platform.
- Ensure understanding and compliance with department and corporate policies and procedures.
Requirements
MD / PhD / PharmD or equivalent.Minimum 5+ years of pharmaceutical experience as a Medical Science Liaison.Pediatric endocrinology, endocrinology, or rare disease experience preferred.Outgoing personality and enthusiasm for interacting with healthcare providers and researchers.Courageous passion for patients.Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively transmit scientific and clinical information.Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders to achieve results.Self‑management skills to organize and prioritize one’s own work schedule.Able to make decisions that impact departmental credibility, operations, and services.Capable of creating materials such as reports and presentations, and speaking to internal and external groups.Residence near a major airport hub within the geography.Valid driver’s license in the state of residence and satisfactory driving record.Estimated travel : 50‑75%.Estimated salary range : $180,000 – $190,000. Actual salary determination depends on experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
