Surgery Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant -Coastal NC

Outpatient Surgery – NP / PA

Wilmington Health is seeking a skilled and motivated Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Outpatient Surgery team. This advanced practice provider will work closely with our surgical physicians to deliver high-quality pre- and post-operative care, support patient education, and enhance overall clinic efficiency within a collaborative, physician-led environment.

Position Highlights

Provide comprehensive outpatient surgical care, including pre-operative assessments, post-operative follow-up visits, wound checks, and patient education

Support physicians during clinic through patient evaluations, imaging / lab review, care coordination, and documentation

Independently assess and manage patients based on clinical protocols and level of experience

Perform minor in-clinic procedures as appropriate (suture removal, wound care, dressing changes, staple removal, injections, etc.)

Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including primary care, imaging, and specialty services

Help streamline patient flow to optimize access and maintain a positive patient experience

No inpatient responsibilities

Qualifications

Current NP or PA license with eligibility to practice in North Carolina

Experience in surgery or a related specialty preferred (General Surgery, Ortho, Plastics, Vascular, etc.)

Strong clinical assessment skills and comfort managing post-operative patients

Excellent communication and patient education abilities

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced outpatient environment

Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care
