A PET / CT Technologist operates equipment that combines radiopharmaceutical imaging with CT technology to produce detailed images for diagnosing and monitoring various medical conditions, including cancer and heart disease. They administer radiopharmaceuticals, ensure patient safety, and perform scans while adhering to strict protocols and safety guidelines.

Primary Responsibilities :

• Performing PET / CT scans :

This involves operating the equipment, positioning patients, and ensuring proper scanning parameters are set

PET / CT scans use radioactive drugs (radiopharmaceuticals) to show metabolic activity in the body, and technologists are responsible for their safe and accurate administration

This includes monitoring patients during the scan, administering contrast materials for CT imaging, and implementing radiation safety procedures

Technologists are responsible for capturing high-quality images, ensuring proper processing, and collaborating with radiologists to interpret the results

This includes calibrating equipment, performing quality control tests, and troubleshooting any technical issues

Technologists must adhere to established protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements related to radiation safety and patient care

Working with doctors, nurses, radiologists, and other staff members to provide comprehensive patient care

The hourly range for this role is $28.61 to $56.06 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
