• What You'll Do : Academic Achievement & Character Development
• Create a positive, achievement-oriented, and structured learning environment.
• Motivate and support students to meet high academic and behavioral expectations.
• Collaborate with families to invest them in their child’s growth and Kuumba's Core Values.
• Use data to drive instruction, monitor progress, and adjust strategies.
• Design and implement unit and lesson plans in collaboration with grade and subject teams.
• Ensure student accountability during all transitions, school trips, and events.
• Special Education Responsibilities
• Deliver research-based, individualized instruction aligned with each student’s IEP.
• Develop and implement comprehensive IEPs, including goals, instructional strategies, and service needs.
• Assess student progress and adjust instruction as needed to support mastery of IEP goals.
• Employ a variety of teaching methods and tools to support diverse learning styles.
• Collaborate with support staff, general education teachers, and families to ensure student success.
• Professional Growth & School Leadership
• Partner with instructional coaches, grade-level leads, and school leaders to refine teaching practices.
• Engage in regular professional development, team planning, and data analysis sessions.
• Support school-wide culture by reinforcing expectations and volunteering for community events and leadership opportunities.
• Participate in the DTGSS teacher evaluation process for continuous growth.

• Mastery of subject matter and a genuine passion for teaching
• Requirements :
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s preferred)
• Certified in Special Education in the state of Delaware
• At least two years of teaching experience (preferred), with a proven track record of student achievement
