Senior Freight Claims Specialist

The Senior Freight Claims Specialist plays a critical role in managing and resolving freight claims within the transportation and warehousing industry, ensuring that all claims are handled efficiently and accurately to minimize financial loss. This position requires a deep understanding of freight operations, claim regulations, and customer service excellence to investigate, document, and negotiate claims with carriers and clients. The specialist will serve as a key liaison between internal teams, carriers, and customers to facilitate timely resolution and maintain strong business relationships. By analyzing claim trends and providing insights, the role contributes to improving operational processes and reducing future claim occurrences. Ultimately, the Senior Freight Claims Specialist ensures compliance with industry standards while protecting the company's financial interests and reputation.

Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in freight claims management or transportation logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of freight claims regulations, industry standards, and transportation documentation.
  • Proficiency in claims management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Certification in freight claims or logistics (e.g., Certified Claims Professional (CCP) or similar).
  • Experience working in a remote environment with demonstrated self-motivation and time management skills.
  • Familiarity with international freight claims and cross-border transportation regulations.
  • Advanced data analysis skills and experience with reporting tools.
  • Prior experience in training or mentoring team members.
  • Responsibilities :

  • Investigate and process freight damage, loss, and delay claims from initiation through resolution, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
  • Communicate effectively with carriers, customers, and internal departments to gather necessary information and negotiate settlements.
  • Review contracts, bills of lading, and shipping documents to verify claim validity and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain detailed records of claims activity and prepare reports to identify trends and recommend process improvements.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams when necessary to address complex or disputed claims.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior claims staff to enhance team knowledge and performance.
  • Utilize freight management and claims software to track and manage claims workflow efficiently.
