Requirements :

  • Industry Expertise : 7–10 years of experience in heavy civil excavation estimating.
  • Educational Background : Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Technical Skills : Advanced proficiency in construction estimating software (HeavyBid, HCSS, or similar).
  • Leadership Ability : Proven success mentoring junior estimators and supporting preconstruction teams.
  • Analytical Skills : Ability to perform detailed quantity take-offs, labor / equipment productivity analysis, and accurate pricing for excavation, grading, and utility projects.

Responsibilities :

  • Lead preparation of detailed cost estimates for heavy civil excavation projects including site preparation, grading, trenching, and utilities.
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports to prepare comprehensive estimates.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to gather essential information and validate assumptions.
  • Review and interpret schematics and blueprints to determine project scope and requirements.
  • Calculate quantities of materials, labor, and equipment needed for large-scale excavation and grading operations.
  • Prepare bid proposals and lead competitive bidding processes.
  • Provide support in negotiating contracts with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Mentor and guide junior estimators, ensuring consistency and accuracy across all estimates.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, and cost drivers to keep estimates competitive.

    • Skills :

  • Deep knowledge of excavation and grading processes, means, and methods.
  • Strong understanding of earthwork production rates and equipment selection.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics and blueprints.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with clients and internal teams.
  • Ability to problem-solve and make confident decisions under pressure.
