Senior Transportation Planner – Richmond

A well-established, multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking a Senior Transportation Planner to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to transformative transportation, transit, and multimodal planning projects that shape communities across the region.

As a Senior Transportation Planner, you’ll play a key role in leading complex planning studies , coordinating directly with clients and stakeholders, and helping to deliver innovative solutions to meet today’s mobility challenges.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead or support transportation, transit, and multimodal planning studies , including corridor studies, alternatives analyses, and service planning
  • Manage day-to-day staffing, scheduling, and technical responsibilities for assigned projects
  • Conduct data collection, analysis, and research on land use, transportation, social, and economic trends
  • Prepare planning reports, conceptual designs, and presentations for clients, advisory boards, and public meetings
  • Represent the firm in communications with clients, agencies, and elected officials
  • Assist with project management activities, including scope, budget, and task tracking
  • Contribute to proposal writing and business development pursuits as needed

Qualifications :

  • 6+ years of professional planning experience (or Master’s + 4 years)
  • Advanced knowledge of transportation planning principles, practices, and funding mechanisms
  • Proven experience with transit, corridor, or multimodal studies
  • Strong communication and public engagement skills, including presenting to boards and stakeholders
  • AICP Certification preferred (or ability to obtain)
  • Active involvement in professional practice organizations is a plus
