Minimum qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

6 years of experience in an applied research setting (e.g., product or academic), or similar.

Experience with research methods (e.g., usability, studies, contextual inquiries, one-to-one interviews, unmoderated research studies).

Preferred qualifications

Master's degree or PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Statistics, Psychology, Anthropology, or related field.

Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams throughout the entire product development process.

Experience in front-end development, technical UX design, or prototyping.

Experience utilizing various research methods including usability studies, contextual inquiry, and surveys to drive product improvements.

Knowledge in AI / ML academic research or development with passion for GenAI systems and the developers who build them.

Ability to operate with high flexibility and apply a problem-solving attitude in ambiguous environments.

We collaborate with UX Designers, Writers, Content Strategists, Program Managers, and Engineers to create products that deliver value for users and Google’s business.

The UXR will help the team understand user needs, work with stakeholders across functions, and conduct primary research such as field studies, interviews, diary studies, workshops, ethnography, surveys, usability testing, and logs analysis. The UXR community offers opportunities to connect with other researchers and access to internal research tools.

The AI and Compute Enablement (ACE) team drives Google's next-gen user-centric AI and compute innovations, providing platforms and infrastructure to build and deploy AI / ML into products for internal and external users. The Technical Infrastructure team maintains data centers and Google platforms to support our product portfolio.

Compensation : The US base salary range for this full-time position is $151,000-$222,000 plus bonus, equity and benefits. Final compensation is determined by location and other factors. Responsibilities

Identify and prioritize high-impact research opportunities that align with product, design, and business objectives to define and influence strategy and roadmaps for MSCA products and solutions.

Scope and execute foundational, exploratory, and evaluative research using qualitative and quantitative methods (surveys, interviews, analysis) to answer product questions, improve customer pain points, and drive business value.

Synthesize data into insights, reports, and presentations to inspire adoption and inform cross-functional partners.

Engage in rapid research, design facilitation, stakeholder alignment, and prototyping to solve user problems and scale user-centric solutions.

Build partnerships with peers and stakeholders, incorporating technical and business domain expertise into research, and leverage user data to navigate ambiguity.
