Chief Purpose of this position :   The Division of General Internal Medicine is seeking an Internal Medicine-Pediatrics physician to join an outstanding group of clinician educators in a dedicated Medicine-Pediatrics primary care practice in a suburban satellite location of VCU Health.  Physicians at this practice provide comprehensive evidence-based care to a diverse patient population that spans all ages and levels of complexity.  In addition to providing outpatient care, this faculty position also allows for significant clinical teaching of Internal Medicine-Pediatrics residents and medical students, if desired by the candidate.  The successful candidate will have an interest in developing a career as a superb clinician educator.  The Division is well positioned to support a range of clinical and academic interests.

Position Responsibilities :

Teaching :

• Supervise and teach housestaff in the resident outpatient practice, if part of desired duties
• Supervise and teach learners (including medical students, interns, and residents) on the inpatient housestaff teaching service, if part of desired duties
• If working on the inpatient teaching service, conduct daily teaching rounds that use contemporary adult learning methods to promote evidence-based practice
• Demonstrate effective teaching skills and continually develop as a teacher for learners at all levels
• Complete required evaluations of learners in a timely manner—including but not limited to written and verbal feedback
• Participate in other learning activities such as morning report, core conference, and other formal educational programs for undergraduate and post-graduate learners
