Position Overview
Ledgent Finance & Accounting's client is seeking a detail-oriented Sr. Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations across multiple departments. This role will ensure accurate and timely processing of employee pay, compliance with applicable regulations, and collaboration with HR and Finance teams to maintain seamless payroll and reporting functions.
Responsibilities
- Administer recurring payroll cycles for a diverse employee base, ensuring all payments, deductions, and adjustments are processed accurately and on time.
- Validate and reconcile employee time entries, compensation data, and benefit-related deductions prior to submission.
- Maintain up-to-date and accurate payroll information within internal systems, ensuring alignment between HR and Finance records.
- Generate and distribute regular payroll summaries, reports, and analysis for leadership and accounting teams.
- Monitor compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local payroll laws, tax requirements, and reporting obligations.
- Serve as the primary contact for payroll-related inquiries, resolving employee questions regarding compensation, taxes, and leave balances.
- Support annual reporting activities, including tax form preparation and reconciliation of year-end payroll data.
- Partner with HR and Finance to support audits, benefits administration, and compensation-related projects.
- Participate in system maintenance, new software rollouts, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance payroll accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications
Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent required.6+ years of payroll administration in a multi-entity environment required.Experience using payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, Paychex, etc.Solid understanding of payroll practices, wage and hour laws, and tax compliance.Prior experience using payroll and HR information systems; proficiency with Excel or similar reporting tools preferred.High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail in a deadline-driven environment.Strong communication and analytical skills with a customer-focused approach.Ability to manage confidential data responsibly and maintain discretion.Certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus but not required.Required Work Hours
