Travel Nurse RN - Med / Surg / Telemetry - $2,002 per week in Macon, GA

Job Title : RN - MedSurg / Tele Profession : Registered Nurse Specialty : Medical-Surgical / Telemetry Duration : 13 weeks Shift : 12-hour Night Shift Hours per Shift : 36 hours Experience : Minimum of 2 years Med / Surg / Tele RN experience required License : Current RN license Certifications : BLS required, ACLS preferred Must-Have : EKG competency exam during onboarding Certification in Med-Surg is a plus Description : Registered Nurse needed for Medical-Surgical / Telemetry. The facility has 637 licensed beds and is a Level 1 trauma designation. It is a teaching hospital with designations as a chest pain center and stroke center. Each Med-Surg unit has 20-36 beds. Patient types include a variety of inpatient medical-surgical cases. Patient ratios are as follows : RN 1 : 4-6, LPN 1 : 4-6, and CNA up to 1 : 14. BLS certification is required for all candidates. ACLS certification is preferred. Travelers will be required to pass an EKG competency exam during onboarding. Common skills needed include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, and glucometer checks. Common medication drips include insulin and heparin, and those will be titrated to heart rate rather than blood pressure. Support within the department includes CNAs for assistance with vitals, blood glucose checks, baths, and patient safety. Unit clerical support is available during specified hours. Charge nurse supervision is present. Phlebotomy responsibilities are managed primarily by lab personnel; RNs will draw off of central venous lines. There is a dedicated resource team that supports all units. Respiratory therapy is available 24 / 7. Hospitalists and intensivists are on site 24 / 7. Telemetry monitoring is managed through a central telemetry unit. The facility utilizes EPIC for electronic medical records, with Alaris for IV pumps and Pyxis for medication dispensing. Unit-specific equipment includes vital sign monitors and glucose testing strips. Travelers may be required to float to all Med-Surg / Telemetry units as needed. The unit culture is described as busy and team-oriented.
