REPORTS TO : Hospital Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW : As a Veterinary Technician - Swing Shift at EVCC-Mishawaka, you will :
- You will have familiarity with emergency protocols, and strong clinical support capabilities.
- Take initiative in patient care, mentoring junior team, and ensuring operational excellence throughout the hospital.
- Support a culture of accountability, teamwork, and patient advocacy by modeling professionalism, compassion, and expertise.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Confidently assist in triage and stabilization of critical patients, recognizing signs of shock, respiratory distress, and painLead patient restraint for advanced procedures including wound care, catheter placement, and CPR effortsMaintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, treatments, and observationsProvide advanced care to hospitalized and ICU patients, including fluid monitoring, syringe feeding, and comfort protocolsAssist with surgical prep, equipment maintenance, and cleaning under sterile conditionsSet up and assist in radiology, laboratory testing, and emergency proceduresCommunicate confidently with the medical team, participating in patient rounds and care updatesEnsure hospital cleanliness, safety compliance, and readiness for all patient scenariosDemonstrate leadership in handling emotionally intense situations with calm, professionalism, and empathyQUALIFICATIONS :
High school diploma or equivalent requiredMust be willing to work the swing shiftMinimum 2+ years of experience in a Veterinary Technician role, preferably in emergency careDemonstrated competency in advanced restraint, patient monitoring, and emergency protocolsStrong communication and leadership skills; able to guide and support team members under pressureAbility to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and patient welfareMust be detail-oriented, reliable, and proactive in patient and hospital careFlexible availability including overnights, weekends, holidays, and extended shiftsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs. and remain on feet for long periods in a fast-paced settingCOMPENSATION + SUPPORT :
